RACE RESULTS TUESDAY

Special early week edition to crow about our DC West Falcons.  This is turning out to be a season like no other.  First off big props to Head Coach Dan Maline and assistants Nolan Zimmer and Ty Hansen.  Last night was the Yutan Invitational.

The Falcon lasses are undefeated this year and ranked 4th overall Class C.  They may move up after last night’s convincing victory.  With their number 2 runner out in quarantine.  Paxton Paulson making up for the loss with the best race of her career.  This is a young and talented squad that will gather on podiums in Kearney for years to come.  Led by freshman twins Olivia and Maria Malousek, a coach’s dream team for at least the next 4 years.

It was the boy’s race that was the real nail biter though.  Ft. Calhoun the most vaunted coming in but lacking a key runner, still tough.  Louisville raising eyebrows with fine performances.  But it was the Falcons, led by senior Ryan  McArdle, that shocked some of those gathered at the storied Walnut Grove course.  But not me and Linda.  Or Coaches Maline, Zimmer & Hansen.  There’s a culture being built at DC West.  And Valley 7 Lakes Marathon is happy to be just a small part of it!

My boy Jack Runde.  Freshman.  Moving up the depth chart to 3rd, finishing 11th overall.  Just a hint of a smile, he knows there’s still plenty of work to do!
