Recap of Town of Indiahoma Board of Trustees meeting of 10/12/23.
Meeting was called to order at 5:03 by Mayor Juanelle Webster. In the “Remarks from Trustees” Don Probst reported that he is getting many complaints regarding the unkempt property directly across from the Baptist Church. No action was taken on the Projects List for the 5 Year Plan. Any progress is dependent on grant monies that have yet to be awarded. Trustees approved $3300 to replace lighting in the Indiahoma Community Development Center.
Discussions were held regarding Trailer Ordinances. There are several trailers in the park (the trailer park is owned by the city) that do not meet International Building Code (i.e. having the trailer skirted, having water, sewer, and electric). There are people that live primitively in Indiahoma, without basic public health infrastructure. Where do they pee? And how about #2? There is also a problem collecting lot rent from several of the residents. Nuisance Procedures for dilapidated properties are to be developed as a first step with District Court Orders for Eviction an end resolution.
City Attorney Amanda Mullins is working on verbage for our Ordinance Manual. Key points will be addressing the trailer park and prescribing Citation and Lein processes on dilapidated properties within city limits. The abandoned property located at 402 Becker is at the very top of the list. Mullins described how to get a clear title via a Title Commitment.
The Board approved $1200 to replace heaters located inside the pump house.
Lease agreements were up next. Businesses that operate out of the Community Center will now be required to carry insurance and name the Town of Indiahoma as Additional Insureds.
