Word of the day, another name for beekeepers. I’ve put honey in my coffee every morning for over 30 years. Always go for the local producers as it helps assimilate allergens, really it does.
And as always, we’re busy as bees!
I met with the Omaha CVB yesterday as we prep for this weekend’s site visit by the Powers That Be in USATF. Another step towards our hosting the 2012 USATF Club National Championships at Burke.
Headed to Lincoln over lunch today to meet with their CVB as we prep our bid to revive and host the USATF Marathon Road Relay. Our mate Brian Wandzilak is our man on the ground in Lincoln and he has already come up with a couple of good suggestions to satisfy my desire for a criterium course, looking forward to the preview. We get this up and going and you’ll see some of the top clubs in the U.S. zipping around Lincoln in 2014-15.
And, of course we are finalizing things for Saturday morning’s Big Blue Run. Our Nebraska Association 1 Mile Championships that were scheduled for Saturday afternoon (Blair Elite Downtown Mile) was canceled yesterday, that was always a good payday for our athletes, DRATS! In response to that I have decided to offer a modicum of prize purse at Big Blue. Top 3 male and female finishers will now be rewarded with $100, $75, $50. It isn’t a whole lot but should ease the sting of losing our 1 Mile.
Good luck to those running the Sandhills Marathon this weekend. One of the better novelty races of the summer, it isn’t Certified or Sanctioned but a great time for those that use it for their long run.
My old buddy Meb Keflezighi won the San Diego Rock N Roll Half Marathon this past weekend in 1:02:40.
