Good run this morning in the fog/haze/soup. A couple of west loops with the second one fast enough to kick start my imagination. Was joined by one of our newer TNB mates, Cameron Cummings. You might remember that he won the Lincoln Marathon (2:26:47) this past May. I was delighted to hear that he will run the Chicago Marathon this fall. When asked what his goal time was his instant reply made me smile broadly, “2:19:00”. Glad I’ve already got my room reserved down in Houston next January. Cameron has a great shot at hitting that Olympic Trials standard along with several other of the mates.
Quite a few of the Good Mates will be Racing the Lake Wehrspann 10K manana. We thank the Omaha Run Club for certifying the course and hope that more local race directors pick up on the fact that TNB seeks out and supports their events when the distances are legit. We’ll have two women in the 2 Mile and 3 or more in the 10K, catch them if you can! I’m playing it close to the vest with our men but don’t be surprised to see some faster times than in years past.
My partner with the Big Blue Run, Dr. Euclid de Souza is en route to Haiti this morning for a week of missionary work. Good on you Doc!
I always recognize excellence in RGS, today’s nod takes a decidedly effervescent twist. My buddy Mike Miles (nice last name) has decided to set himself apart as a beer lover extraordinaire. Old Chicago has a deal where you can “Tour the World” by imbibing 110 different beers. You do that and you join a very select club. Mike has completed the tour 34 times! Not only that but he has visited 77 of the 100+ Old Chicagos around the country, with the intent of hitting every one of them. You can check Mike’s Ultimate Old Chicago Tour by visiting his website, www.oldchicagotour.com
And as always, be safe, drink responsibly and in moderation!
