Got to give a shout out to my main man in Kansas City. This cat has been working the pit at Arthur Bryant’s BBQ for the last 60 years! We had our team meal there following the race and you all know my passion for all things culinary qualifies me to say this is The Best BBQ I’ve ever eaten, even better than my own!
Our mate Matt Heesch was checked out by the cardiologist this morning and all is well, pretty frightening experience though.
What would we have done without Andrew Jacob? This mate is training up for the 800 meters at Club Nationals but stepped up at the last minute to make sure we had a spare and ended up scoring for us! And Linda too! I’m proudest of all of our thirds!
Linda is relieved to hear from her friend in Japan from last year’s Ekiden this morning. She was very worried that she hadn’t heard from her since the devastating earthquake. Sounds like things are going OK in their recovery.
I went down to check out the BIG BLUE RUN course yesterday, I was particularly concerned about the portion that is on the Iowa side of the Mo. All is fine and the race will go on as scheduled. We’ve ordered plenty of extra t-shirts so come on down and run the race and take the opportunity to get a first hand view of the river at the highest levels of our lifetimes. Hydrate to Frequent Potty Breaks! And it typically takes at least two weeks to acclimate to the heat so don’t beat yourself up if your times are slow and you are feeling worn out.
