Well done Chanticleers! Against all odds. Cinderella story. Your place in CWS history now indelibly etched. You’ve inspired every underdog that will follow in your chicken tracks!
What’s this? I received the latest copy of Running Times, er, Runner’s World. And found something of actual substance. A lengthy article penned by Frank Shorter detailing the 1976 Olympic Marathon. Something those of a certain age are well familiar with. How the East German made a mockery of fair play and robbed Frank of Gold, Kardong of Bronze. Its called dope. Whilst reading it a commercial appeared on my telly promoting HGH, under some commercially marketed name, as the solution to your ills. Same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Don’t be a doper dope!
A whole page dedicated to running your best beer mile too. We’re working on the 3rd semi-annual, invitation only Bar None Beer Mile. State records last time, 6:06 by Rhymes With Ringer, 7:27 for the women by our own Stacy Shaw. Post race meal and designated drivers making sure our hinnies and yours are good to go. If you would like to be considered for the field shoot me an email, [email protected]
The umpteenth annual Ralston Fun Run is 7/04. I ran it once, had the race clock fall on my head, and was left scratching it trying to figure out why race results are so confounding. Tradition!
Mate update. Grant Wintheiser has completed his 8 week stint in India doing medical mission work. Reposing back home in Minnesota, kicking training off for what promises to be a torrid fall of competition. Drew Prescott is in the Dominican Republic also doing mission work. Fine young men the both.
Wishing you a safe holiday wherever you may roam. And hoping that come Tuesday you’ll have all ten fingers.
Pete and Kyle prior to the gun at Western States. Up next is Badwater and the Bar None Beer Mile.
