With only The Runoff left to close out the USA Olympic Trials I’ll give you some of my personal highlights, in no particular order:
Seeing my two original mentors, Jim & Carol McLatchie on the track for every single race. Both are Master Level Officials and worked the duration. Every time the camera would capture the race, there they’d be.
Alice Schmidt making the Women’s 800 Meter Team. A hometown girl rising head and shoulders above the competition, figuratively and literally.
Team Nebraska’s David Adams making the Men’s Steeplechase Final. We are all darned proud!
The Men’s 5000 Meters, Galen Rupp grows into a man.
The Women’s 5000 Meters, Kim Conley earns her chops.
Team Nebraska’s Aubrey Baxter finishing 8th in the Women’s Hammer Throw.
The finish of the Men’s Decathlon 1500 Meters. A classy Curtis Beach slowing to one side so Ashton Eaton could celebrate his WR with style.
Emma Coburn in the Women’s Steeplechase.
Team Nebraska’s Jared Shuurmans competing in the Men’s Discus.
CALLING ALL NEBRASKA USATF LDR CLUBS!
If you are a Nebraska USATF LDR club and haven’t committed any volunteers to this coming weekend’s USATF Club National Championships we can still use several people. Please consider coming out and supporting your governing body, Team Nebraska, and the National Championships. Nineteen of the top clubs in the US are registered to compete. Let’s show them that Nebraska can do this as well as NYC!
