Spring and there is no shortage for national level competition. Our Nebraska Association LDR athletes have a host of opportunities to race against the very best. Athletes from around the U.S. will be gathering to fulfill the vision of USA Track & Field at the following USA National Championships. Spending 10 years working for our Champs program gives me a deep appreciation for the races that bid and are awarded LDR’s highest recognition/compliment. A program I will always hold dear. A program that I will always use as a measuring stick. Our very best athletes deserve the very best competition.
Things kick off on April 24 with our USA Road 1 Mile Championships. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it! If you don’t meet the entry standard there will be a host of Drake Relays Road Races that will be stacked with IowaAblaze best. Our Liz Starbuck has been accepted into the 5K Road Race elite field and I’m pretty darned excited about her prospects.
Our USA Half Marathon Champs are in Pittsburgh this year, set for May 6th. The chance for our young Nebraska men and women to measure up in a national class field.
Perhaps my favorite race on the USA Champs circuit is the 25K in Grand Rapids. May 12th. Beautiful course, tremendous athlete support, and The Amway Grand Plaza as host hotel. Need I say more? Thanks to my old buddy Greg Meyer (1983 Boston Marathon Champ) for getting Amber Sargent and Coralie Eilers into the development portion of the race.
Linda presenting your top finishers at the USA 25K National Champs. Developing national class opportunities one race at a time. Our USATF LDR National Championships Program. Come Get Some.
