Unexpected trip to the ER this morning. I met my training partner for a bike ride, watched in horror as she tried to stop the descending garage door with her foot after realizing she’d be locked out if it closed. Nice hematoma and some swelling but x-rays were negative on any thing worse, whew!
What a treat! I was flipping through the channels on my new 46″ Samsung hdtv, yes I’ve finally joined the 21st century, and stumbled across Universal Sports Channel. I immediately recognized the face as our Omaha mate Peter vd Westhuizen. He was rabbiting the first 1500 of the 5000 meters in Lusaunne, Switzerland, a race that eventually saw 3 men under 13:00. Man is that fast!
Better know a mate: Virgil Mitchell will be running the 110 High Hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles for us in NYC next weekend. Virgil comes to us from Doane College and is currently being coached by Sara Domeier, the same sprint expert that works with Angee Henry. He contested the 110’s at the USA Championships last weekend and is a lock to pick up some points at Club Nationals.
Andrew Jacob managed a 4:07 1500 meters last night in the brutal heat, nice work under the worst of conditions.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July. I’ll be updating daily while you are on break so thanks for checking in to see what is popping!
