All work and no play is the perfect recipe for the summer doldrums. I decided to abandon the hive for a few days and make the drive to Okoboji. Brought my sweeties up for some well earned R&R. The weather is cooperating with a beautiful evening last night and temps in the lower 60s for this morning’s effortless 10 mile run.
I’m impressed with this community and see it as a Prime Venue for a world class triathlon. The mix of eclectic shops and restaurants, along with a very laid back local citizenry, remind me of any hip coastal city on either coast. Last night the local watering hole was more like an adult spring break than a typical boring Tuesday evening.
My run today was primarily on pristine asphalt trails, mostly shaded and some gently rolling bumps for good measure. Just the tonic I needed, this was the first run in over a week where I have not had to take a walk break.
Hope some of this respite from the Good Mother has made it to your neck of the woods too. In another 3 weeks She’ll treat us even better for longer.
