Tomorrow will mark 33 years (3/3/83) since I ran my second marathon, The Galveston Marathon. Ten weeks after my debut at Houston. Lowered my time from 3:11 to 2:56. Would run another in October 1983, The Freedom Marathon in Monticello, IL. in 2:47. Almost a minute/mile improvement over my first 9 months of marathoning. Pretty typical improvement curve from what I’ve seen.
I was briefly taken aback when I read the words “120th annual Boston, Marathon”. My last competitive marathon now 2 decades away. The 100th annual, never dreamed it would be my last.
NRGE, Inc. is all in for the Shamrock Shuffle in just over a month. Neutral ground. Mano-a-mano. Real Racing at the highest levels. I’m hoping all USATF clubs from the Midwest send their very best. Victory is sweetest after all when most dearly won.
Amber Sargent, Linda Kunasek, Stacy Shaw, and Michel Davy will be lacing it up for our lasses entries into this weekend’s Leprechaun Chase 10K. Jay Welp will be making his debut on Nebraska soil. Stellar 3rd o/a at LHF in Nov, back to a few weeks of regular running after a nasty fall, his first test against the best of the rest.
One month until our 10th annual Ni-Bthaska-Ke Trail Runs!
