My beloved Zorinsky Lake is starting to slowly fill again. I’ve been delighted to see waterfowl cavorting and gallivanting, singing promises of a Great Fall of training, really bringing the dojo back to life. I celebrated by freshening up the marks, bright orange and spot on.
Otherwise taking it easy today so I can mount a fair challenge to tomorrow’s 5K Time Trial. If I hit my target time of 19:54 it will age grade to 16:59.16, you don’t have to be fast, you just have to be old and willing to invest some satisfaction in fictional performance tables. If I do hit that mark I’ll feel a whole lot better about the possibility of breaking 42:00 at the Corporate Cup.
Cory Logsdon is running the SunRiver Marathon in Oregon this weekend. He has been training and racing well this late summer/early fall and we wish him Good Luck, Great Speed, and Giddyup!
We’ll have several mates running Grand Island Half Marathon this weekend. Eric Rasmussen and Tom Nichols figure to be battling up front for the men while Kaci Lickteig and Bridget Easley will keep things honest on the women’s side. Full results as soon as available.
Alice Schmidt advanced in the Women’s 800 Meters last night in Daegu. Elkhorn’s own World Class half miler. What a great time for Nebraska T&F fans!
Another great turnout at last night’s track work. Our group grows ever week, welcome to first timers Marie, Eric, Jeff, Ryan, Peter, Augustin, and Lauren. Spending our Wednesday evenings together in Great Fellowship and Hard Work!
There are as many different reasons for coming out on Wednesday nights as there are athletes. One thing all share is a desire to work hard to improve. We have a great mix of abilities and aspirations, sweat is the common bond to our fitness and fun.
The best part of Wednesday nights are the friendly people that are there to support each other. Thanks for letting me be a small part of this great gathering.
