Quick recap of today’s 2nd Annual Hair of the Dog Run. We could not have been more happy with the turnout and donations, thanks to everyone that gets the spirit of helping those less fortunate in the community. A lot of you found out about the event from the Omaha Running Club website, from this morning’s news cast on WOWT, facebook, and word of mouth. No matter how you heard about it, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU!
Eighty Eight good hearted souls came out and made donations to the Food Bank of the Heartland. The Omaha Running Community continues to amaze and inspire me with their selflessness. Not everyone ran or walked but all came bearing good tidings of support for our less fortunate citizenry.
The wind was mighty but so was the resolve of those that braved the bluster.
At least half a dozen dogs came out to lend a paw to Ivan.
Donuts, hot chocolate, and a special airpot of “adult” winter warmer awaited finishers.
Sunny dispositions were the order of the day!
Carrie and Arthur Dayton will run the Disney Half Marathon next weekend. I’ve been coaching Carrie since August and today was the icing on the donut.
I dug the headbands these two ladies were sporting. The one on the left read “I Hate Running”, “I Love Running”, “I Hate Running”, “I Love Running”. Kristi’s read “In my dreams I’m a Kenyan”.
Derek Fey and I rang in the runners, a very ap”peal”ing finish for all.
Several boxes of food items and some nice cash will go to the Food Bank of the Heartland. Thank you again to everyone that made a difference today!
Team Nebraska doing good work for our community!
