A group of us will head over to Quarry Oaks Golf Course on Sunday morning for Beer & Bagel. This is one of those races I’ve never done but have always wanted to, the stars have aligned this year. I’m anxious to see what dividends are to be reaped from the last 3 weeks of Killer Coach’s workouts. This much I do know: In the last 7 days I’ve run over 8 miles @ <6:00 pace. Keep in mind I’ll be 54 in just a few weeks and that is some seriously fast running for me. But it is getting easier as I’m able to relax more at that pace. I might not ever be able to race that fast again but it sure is FUN to at least hit the marks in training.
I’m at 2024 miles for the year thus far. This year won’t be mega miles but it will be the most consistent, injury free 12 months in memory. Maybe 45 mpw is my sweet spot after all.
Took Carrie out to Serpent Ridge for this morning’s workout. She’d never run hills before and was nervous but I broke it down into the basic components and she was soon comfortable if not flying. Progress every week. And as a benefit I’m getting at least one Beautiful Sunrise every seven days.
If you volunteered at one of our TNB races this year stop in at Oscar’s Pizza (17330 Lakeside Hills Dr) on Saturday evening. We’re hosting our volunteer appreciation party, first beer and slice of pie is on Linda, stop in after the Husker win!
Good pizza and cold beer on tap for Saturday evening. LSU v Alabama on the big screens as a bonus. I’m not a wing man but Oscar’s supposedly has some of the best in town.
