Be sure and set aside an hour or so tomorrow evening to come out and support our David Adams Olympic Trials Fundraiser. There are a ton of great raffle items, David will run with the kiddos, you’ll get to see a world class set of quarter mile repeats, get your picture made with him, autographs etc. Burke Stadium beginning at 6:00 pm.
Sometimes others say it better than I can, so here from Matt Schneider’s training log yesterday:
“Was in Lincoln to take my boards exam for nursing today so I hung around to workout with David, Pohren, and Andrew at Lincoln Northeast.
I’ve been blessed to have many incredible racing memories with the mates but this workout is easily a top 5 experience as part of Team Nebraska! I’ve never been so impressed/inspired! Pohren and Andrew hitting 2:02/2:03. David running 1200’s in 3:04/3:01!!
5k warm up
800m of striders
2 x 800m goal time 2:13. 10:00 rest with 1200m run recovery.
5k cool down
Interval # 1- 2:07.1 (64/63) Felt smooth chasing three studs. Shocked with time and thinking there’s no way I could do it again, but I was ready to try!!
Interval # 2- 2:04.5 (63/61.5)!! Unbelievable. Fatiguing at 300m but was able to keep pushinng and actually get stronger and faster!!
Had I run this alone in Norfolk I may have hit 2:13 but this is just unreal. Fed off how great the guys looked and just ride the wave!
Kelly’s support out there is a tremendous boost
And being on track with the studs is something I think may be worth driving to Lincoln for the next few weeks prepping for clubs.
Getting hit by that truck was the biggest blessing! Not only did it awaken me to thankfulness for life and running but gave me the rest I needed to now have my legs feeling better than they have in 4 years!
I’m on a high and going to ride this wave with all I’ve got. Glory be to God and His immaculate plan for my life!!”
Well said Matt, well said. These cats are running 800 meter repeats just days after racing a half marathon, 20K, and 10K. This drive illustrates exactly what I’ve tried to preach to Nebraskans for the last several years, Excellence in distance running. Elite Development. Objective vs. subjective. Team centered training. All good men and Good Mates, deserving recognition of their aspirations, work ethic, and talent. Showing the difference between the epochal and the epic.
Come out tomorrow night and see the difference with your own two eyes.
And on a side note, if you like your Brooks Launch and/or Green Silence, you better hurry and stock up.
