Busier than a one legged man in a butt kicking contest. So busy that we had to move tonight’s TNB Road Race Management Committee meeting to next week. On that front I am happy to announce that Jody Green has been named VP of Road Race Operations and will be in charge of fining our energies and ideas. I know our committee, our volunteers and our community join me in welcoming and thanking Jody for her willingness to serve.
Three hundred views of our Monster Dash digital brochure yesterday alone. Thanks to everyone that is checking it out and passing it along to their friends! www.monsterdash.digbro.com
Race results from last weekend: Aaron Carrizales finished 6th at the Park to Park 10 Miler in Denver. He ran 53:22 despite being directed off course at 7 miles. Ricky Trevino won the Bayard Pioneer Days XC 5K in a quick 15:27. Matt Heesch ran 20:43 at the Augustana Twilight XC 4 Miler. Andrew Jacob did a nice double running the Cure For Cancer 10K in 36:06 on Saturday and then returned Monday to win the Schuyler Labor Day 4 Mile in 21:53. Matt Schneider won the Cure For Cancer 10K in 35:15 and wife Meghan won the women’s side in 41:40.
Matt and Meghan will both be running the Sioux Falls Marathon this coming weekend. Debut for both and we are wishing them all the best!
Paul Wilson (Open Men) and Peter vd Westhuizen (Co-Ed) have been named Team Captains for our 2011 Market to Market title defenses. This year’s Mkt2Mkt looks to be the Most Fun Ever for the Good Mates. We’re giving the event a new twist to create our own competition. The brainchild of Peter, we are going to “weight” our teams so that theoretically our Open Men and Co-Ed teams are battling for the overall title, a mad sprint to the finish. Peter is insisting that I represent and run the anchor leg, we’ll see about that. Will likely shake out like this:
Open Men- Justin Mollak, Tim Langdon, Cheto Cerda, Luka Thor, Dylan Wilson, Paul Wilson, Ben Shultz, Andrew Jacob.
Co-Ed- Peter vd Westhuizen, David Adams, Eric Rasmussen, Will Lindgren, Meghan Schneider, Lauren Klima, Michaela vd Westhuizen, Christina Vullo.
Many mates have been granted permission to run for various other teams and that is a good thing. Just need to ask first. I’m still hopeful that we can sometime get the KC Smoke or Iowa Run Ablaze over for this novelty run. Elevating the level of competition is a sure way to raise the prestige of the race (i.e. Hood to Coast, Beach to Bay, River to River, etc.). And we are champing at the bit for some Real Racing.
Peter & Michaela vd Westhuizen discuss strategy during the 2010 Mkt2Mkt. Having a World Class talent on our Co-Ed team really makes for a Fun Morning!
