Here we are at the proverbial fork in the road. Our journeys bring us to this exact here and now and we have decisions to make moving forward. I’m personally committing to take an extra breath and moment when on our city streets.
Three little kids are learning to ride their bikes on our block. Intent on upright and eyes forward, they’ll never see you coming. Fall Break will commence on Monday October 9th, classes to resume on Monday the 16th. There will be a lot of playing children on the streets, be sure and take a deep breath. If you “always” run that stop sign, please take that extra second to look both ways.
Comanche County was out patching some of our larger potholes yesterday. Big tip of the sombrero to County Commissioner Josh Powers for the follow through.
The Indiahoma Volunteer Fire Department had a very successful fundraiser. A whopping $28,500.00 was raised during the live auction, ticket sales, and donations. Makes us very proud to be part of such a giving community.
The Indiahoma Town Board meeting will be held on Thursday October 12. Begins at 5:00 pm at the city offices. I’d invite everyone to come sit a spell, you’ll be more informed and better for it.
We watched the debate among candidates for the District 32 Senate race on KSWO the other night. Education at the very top of everyone’s agenda. There were differences in their individual platforms however, both Republican and Democrat. Get to know your candidates before the special primary on October 10th. The general election is on December 12th. Get out, exercise your Constitutional duty and Vote!
Police Beat I: According to today’s Lawton Constitution a suspect has been named in the break in and burglary of the Indiahoma Public Schools Ag Barn. Comanche County has issued an arrest warrant for Jonathan Andrew Katvala, aka Yahne Suara, for a count of second-degree burglary. The crime is punishable by up to seven years in prison. The suspect was caught on camera going into the building and taking items.
Dozens of cameras have been set up around town, say cheese! The law abiding citizens of Indiahoma are starting to unite their efforts to battle the drug trafficking and thefts.
Police Beat II: If you throw a silk shawl and go-go boots on a drug mule, it’s still a drug mule.
