Today’s word is Olympiad. The 4 year period between Olympic Games. It resonates deeply within me. This Saturday the marathon team for the 2024 Paris Olympics will be selected in Orlando. 26.2 miles of opportunity to represent the United States of America. I spent my 20s and early 30s tilting at an Olympic Marathon Trials qualifying time. Never close enough but the dream was enough to prompt my very best effort. Something I went on to expect out of all the athletes I’ve worked with since, their very best effort. To reach their own personal potential. In my 40s and 50s I served as the Women’s Long Distance Running National Championships Coordinator. In that capacity I worked on both the 2004 (St. Louis) and 2008 (Boston) Olympic Trials Marathons. Sometimes dreams do come true, but in a different color, shade and hue. The Trials will be broadcast live on Peacock from 10:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. NBC will carry a tape delay broadcast beginning at noon running until 3:30.
One of the things we love most about Indy is the deep rooted sense of community. Last Sunday’s lunch and auction to support the Curtsinger family raised $45,000. Blessings.
The much anticipated opening of the Hometown Cafe is set for next Wednesday. Very much looking forward to supporting Ashley and enjoying a sit down meal right here in Indy!
The Indiahoma Town Board meets this coming Monday at 5:00, city offices. Come and grab a seat, you can get your thumb on the pulse of the city.
