Honor Thy Name.
I am savoring the feelings we are experiencing right now. Getting very close to the end of our chapter here in Indiahoma. Feel extremely blessed to have had my dear, sweet Linda in my corner. We left our dream home in Nebraska to come here and honor everything my dad meant to me. Poured labor and love and substantial resources into the homestead, now complete. I look at the finished product with pride and know dad, and mom, are smiling down. 307 Dillon St. has never looked better.
We Are Indiahoma is pleased to announce our new Race Director, Michelle Cook. Michelle will take over day to day operations with a supporting cast of Indiahoma’s best. Linda and I look forward to returning and running with our friends!
Drug Free Indiahoma is a lofty goal that was launched last November 18th. We have donated the banner to Indiahoma Public Schools in hopes that it can remind our youth that things can indeed change from the bottom up.
The Indy-Pendent News has been a particularly satisfying part of our time in this community. Melding my passions of writing, civic service, athletics, history, food and observation. Thank you to everyone that has indulged my musings!
Katie Lindgren Memorial Park. My final gift to Indiahoma is in partnership with my cousin Carla Cargill. Block 27, Lot 1 was left to me as part of dad’s estate. Lots 2-6 belong to Carla from her dad Carl. We are pleased to announce that the entire corner of Showplace and Dillon is being donated to the Indiahoma Public Works Authority to honor our grandmother. She gave birth to 9 children on the property, raised them during the dust bowl and Great Depression. As a single mother. The epitome of courage and strength and determination and discipline. We will be putting in a bench in her honor and are excited to accept other installations of appropriate esteem and utility.
We Are Indiahoma presented a $500 check to Mayor Juanelle Webster at last night’s Town Board Meeting. The money is for a new paint job on the city offices parking lot. The event was also able to donate $500 to both Indiahoma Public Schools Athletics and the Indiahoma Volunteer Fire Department. Thank you to our many sponsors, participants, and volunteers!
The corner of Showplace and Dillon. Three “native” pecan trees planted by my Uncle Pogo have yielded well and tastefully. Grandma’s bench will be situated beneath with a view of the Wichitas.
