Taking a moment right now to thank those that are making this weekend’s USA Club T&F National Championships possible. USATF, our National Governing body in Indianapolis, especially Andy Martin, Member Services Coordinator. Bill Roe, Past President of USATF and one of my good buddies. Devon Martin, Elite Development Club Council Chair. Thanks for having faith in this vision.
We have over 25 USATF Certified Officials overseeing the conduct of the event. Dozens of volunteers from all corners of the Metro including the Omaha Running Club, thanks John Hall for your great organizational skills. Great support from the host hotel Regency Marriott. Contributors including SUBWAY, Ideal Water, Lincoln Marathon/Lincoln Track Club.
Nancy Sempek, our Nebraska Association President. Bill Scarborough, our Facilities Chair. We could not have had Burke Stadium without his help. Bill Weeks, our Medical Director, he’ll be on site for the duration of the meet. Mike Maryott, our Officials Chair. Matt Pohren, our athlete representative to the Games Committee. Matt Schneider, our Team Captain. Kelly Crawford, my Man Friday that has done everything imaginable and more to make sure this meet goes smoothly. Tim Langdon for his grant writing, and Emily Langdon for her wise legal counsel. Amy Hornocker and Keith Station of the Omaha Sports Commission.
Our Team Nebraska Good Mates. Both current athletes that have trained so hard and those that have been there before and are now contributing in other ways (Shannon Stenger, Paul Wilson, Dustin Llewellyn).
And Linda. She’s been there every step of the way, throwing lifelines when I’ve needed them most. As mentioned before this dream was first pitched in Virginia Beach in December 2010. Its been a long 18+ months and the seas have not always been idyllic. The ship is righted though and hopefully smooth sailing through the weekend.
And you readers. The growing segment of the running community that has supported Team Nebraska, our initiatives, our programs, our athletes, our dreams. Giddyup!
