We’re just days away now, strangely quiet out at the dojo. Remember, Peak no Taper! Looks to be another warm one, but not the blast furnace that was Boston. The marathon has some slick new features this year including a smartphone app and athlete tracking capability. Tracking mats will be set up at these following points:

There will also be a host of pacers on hand to help runners achieve their desired goal pace, like this:

There is also a total of $26,100 in prize money available if you count the course record bonuses available.
And as always with a race of this size, Safety is a number one priority and with that in mind, the following rules are in place:
“For the safety of participants, volunteers and spectators, no unofficial bicycles, roller blades, roller skates, baby strollers, dogs or unregistered entrants are allowed on the race course.
Did my last hard workout for the week, 25 X 1/4 with :45 recovery. First 10 @ 1:45, last 15 @ 1:39. Linda 4-7 seconds faster on each and every one, whew!
We’ve done hundreds of quarters now on this stretch of asphalt at El Parque Estado Dos Rios. I marked off every 1/4 mile with my Jones/Oerth counter, it is spot on, notice the stripe in the left foreground.
This is my office, “health club”, and therapists office, it is a good gig if you can get it.
