Howdy Y’all! A 3 month sabbatical from musings greets this morning. The longest break from the column in its 20 year history.
We’ve relocated to southwest Oklahoma. Indiahoma, home of the Fighting Warriors! Settling in to the Lindgren homestead, land in the family since 1907. For those that think we’re crazy for leaving our “dream home” in Wahoo, bwa-ha-ha!!! Clear of all debt, sitting quite well, smiling at the end of the rainbow.
The Oklahoma Way. A constant parade of friends and family and new acquaintances dropping by. Antithesis of our experience in Wahoo.
The sense of freedom at our new digs is palpable. I carried a big chip on my shoulder that was the Nebraska Running Community. No longer feel the need to prove myself, fight for my programs, or endure what I couldn’t accept. The Omaha Run Club leadership most of all, ensconced in mediocrity, lacking leadership and vision to support development opportunities for serious athletes. The common theme “Elite level running brings NOTHING to road races”, a direct quote that echoed throughout my two decades of efforts.
There is hope however! Club 402 XC & Track developing youth. LRC Racing Company providing opportunities for post collegiate distance runners. Nebraska Elite just starting. The USATF Nebraska Association LDR program in good hands, finally.
We’ve renewed Run Guru Elite’s USATF Competitive Club membership. Excited to start our youth program here in Indiahoma. Developing a feeder program for the local school, just the start. Planning our first event to raise money for the Indiahoma Volunteer Fire Department.
Living our best life. Linda and I stayed at the Mesina Hof Villa in Bryan, TX while in town for the USATF Junior Olympics Cross Country meet. Supporting our friends at Club 402 XC & Track, and the entire Nebraska Association.
Dear Santa, please bring me some fast children!
