More reflections of my first 10 years on Omaha.
I’ve gotten to meet some great people not only here in Omaha but from across the state. Nancy Sutton-Moss jumps right to the top of my list as we share such a strong bond in our committment to the athletes of Nebraska. Her work growing the Lincoln Marathon into the success it is demonstrates just how much she has contributed. Tom Whitaker is counted on the same hand. His selflessness and dedication as the perennial President of the Omaha Run Club makes him the go to guy for almost anything running related in Omaha. Mike Ewoldt of Peak Performance. He is moving forward with some new and improved local events, including a re-energized Beer & Bagel, a burgeoining Blarney Stone 5K, Cinco De Mayo, Gambler Half Marathon, and more. We like the direction he is going in road race management for the Omaha Metro. Ben Cohoon has also been a recent success after debuting his immensely popular Market to Market in 2008 and this upcoming weekend’s Leprechaun Chase 10K. The Lincoln Track Club’s venerable slate of events also get a nod here.
Youth 4-H, Ovarian Cancer Research, Habitat for Humanity, Open Door Mission, Food Bank of the Heartland, Girls on the Run, MS, Prostate Cancer Awareness. All worthy causes that your TNB events have raised funding and awareness for. The administrators of these charities share our committment to giving back to our communities and it has been a great pleasure working with such positive energies.

On a sad note a friend and national class runner Sally Meyerhoff, age 27, was killed yesterday while riding her bike in Maricopa, Arizona. I got to work with Sally regularly when I chaired the WLDR National Championships. She was a fierce competitor at road racing (USA 25K National Champion), 2:35:49 marathon pr, triathlons, and also was the 2010 Exterra Trail Running World Half Marathon Championship. She lived life to its fullest and that is about the best thing that can be said under such tragic circumstances.
