The voters of Valley, Nebraska have spoken. Congratulations to newly elected Mayor Cindy Grove. Cindy’s service on the City Council, Valley Days Director, and founder/director of the Valley Flood Relief program made her a cinch to clinch.
We are proud that Cindy also serves on our marathon committee, shares our commitment towards bringing a national class race to our community.
I’d like to give a moment’s pause in memory of former U.S. Senator David Karnes, he passed on Oct. 25th. I met David when I first arrived in Nebraska in 2001. Had read he was going to try and run the NYC Marathon with his daughters to honor his wife’s memory. We met in his Omaha office and roughed out a solid training schedule. He made a good effort before his knees finally balked. Was my privilege to work with him.
