At the Freihofer’s Run For Women 5K a group of us would sit around a pub the night before and handicap our USA Women’s 5K National Championships. Top 5 with winning time being the tie breaker. The winner was acknowledged with much the same respect as if he had picked a Kentucky Derby trifecta. With that in mind..
Don’t let Emily Kraus’s angelic appearance hide the fierce competitor within. She ran last weekend’s Iron Mountain 9 Mile Trail Run outside of San Diego, and won 1st Overall! No small feat judging by the elevation graphs.
I think I’m going with our Sweet Em to take the Overall at tomorrow’s 12K, Abby Knight has withdrawn due to a calf injury so it should be a “walk in the park”. For the men it is going to be tough on Ivan Marsh with our mates Brian Wandzilak and Bryan Felker fast on his cloven heels. We’re standing at 427 entries with race day sign up still available. I want to thank our entire Team Nebraska Brooks Road Race Management Committee for getting it and making it work.
