Thinking a lot about the Lincoln Marathon. I’m approaching this one differently than ever before. Limiting my long runs to two 16s and two 20’s. So going in slightly undertrained compared to previous build ups. My last marathon was Lincoln in 2009. On April 6th of that year I was at 841 miles for the year, this year I’m at 723. I hit 1000 on the day of the marathon in ’09, I’ll likely be closer to 850 this time. Undertrained maybe but also completely uninjured.
But I was training to Race Lincoln last time. This time, while I’m not running just to complete it, I’ve taken the razor’s edge out of the equation. Lincoln has set up some great pacing leaders with 5:00 minute increments available. I’m sticking with the 3:30 group for the first 20 miles and will gobble up the over ambitious the last 10K. One thing that hasn’t changed is my ability to talk a good race eh?
Our mates Megan Zavorka and Michaela van der Westhuizen have been getting together on the track recently with good results. 4 X 1 Mile yesterday with Megan’s all in the low 5:40s and Michaela in the low :50s, nice work!
I heard yesterday that they are considering refilling Zorinsky Lake due to complaints by every bordering Homeowners Association. That would be good news for all of us.
