Coining a term here to describe Kaci Lickteig’s amazing performance at Rocky Raccoon. Pretty darned cool to watch her move up, and up, and closer, and closer, running consistent while others struggled with the toll. Finally overtaking 2nd place, chasing the leader, ever closer, ever closer, until amazingly in a 100 mile race she ran out of real estate just 3:28 behind the winner Nicole Studer. Think about this a moment.
1 | 1 | 161 | Nicole | Studer | F | 31 | Overall | 15:42:04 | 15:42:04 |
2 | 2 | 122 | Kaci | Lickteig | F | 27 | Overall | 15:45:32 | 15:45:32 |
And third place female Shaheen Satar over an hour behind. A Star is born! Pearl Izumi must be thrilled.
Our NRGE mate Kyle Clouston took a different tack. One that has elevated him to the highest echelons of my estimation. Long after Kaci was warmed and fed, Kyle trudged on, resolute. And on. And on. Through the night, through the rain, through the pain. “A” goal by the by, adios to the “B” goal too. What’s left? The goal of finishing. Which he did in 26 hours and 32 minutes. Good enough for 4th in his age group.
Kaci with her amazing talent, Kyle with his amazing drive. Thanks to you both for the inspiration this weekend.
The Broncos really sucked last night, tough way to cap a wonderful season. Bruno Mars was the highlight of the evening for me.
I want to be Ben Cohoon when I grow up. His Good Life Halfsy set for November is over 90% sold out. Marketing genius. UPDATE: Sold Out!
Nebraska, Iowa, North Carolina, Missouri, Colorado, and Kansas. A lot of folks from a lot of places signing up for Ni-Bthaska-Ke. More to come.
Jerrod Anzalone (L) celebrating with Kyle as he receives his finisher’s buckle. Good Mates!
