If you pour everything into your running it will pay unlimited lifetime dividends!
What you put in. What you get out. What you expect out of running. What you expect out of life. How much are you willing to give?
I gave it all. Every race. Too many training runs full tilt. Red line.
And for what? Potential achieved. I reached mine. How about you? I’m asking if you embrace my philosophy. If you do we speak the same language. The language of effort and honesty and pride, regardless of result.
I had 3 tons of gravel dumped last Thursday afternoon. Two loads as high as the eaves on the garage. A man and his shovel. Kind neighbors trundling their skid loaders over with offers of assistance. “But what would I do if you do this for me?” Four days of intimacy with hard labor my chosen path. 25′ x 35′ X 6″ for the new parking pad, enough to dress up the 100 meters of drive.
Finished yesterday, same neighbors now marveling, querying “How?”
Linda and I never hesitate to tell them how. “This is nothing.” As highly trained endurance athletes we are used to elevated heart rates, straining muscles, for long periods of time.
What running can do for you. Potential unlimited. Potential achieved.
Running and gardening. Unlimited parallels. These five quarts of garlic (five varieties!) cloves are soaking in a fish emulsion mix to maximize germination. Going in the ground today, will harvest in exactly 9 months (garden gestation?). Long range planning equally as critical when considering running goals. Daily efforts to make sure they’re met.
