Jody Green describes herself as a “productive insomniac” and indeed she does more work at night than I usually get done in a full day. My nights are filled with scrolling mental lists while remaining abed, waiting until that time when they play out and the random thoughts begin, the sign that sleep is nigh.
Here are some of those from last night:
Proud of my dear sweet Allison, her team won the Cooking competition at Millard South yesterday evening. Her stuffed ravioli and mushroom sauce being the cornerstone of the entree. They actually pay out cash prizes!
Remembering what a Studette Suzanne Weeder Einspahr was in the early days of Team Nebraska. Here are some of her pr’s while competing in the Red & White:
3000 meters- 9:42 (2003)
5000 meters- Track- 16:34 (2004)
8000 meters- Road- 27:32 (2004)
10000 meters- Road- 34:40 (Tufts 10K, 2005 USATF National Championships, 9th overall)
Half Marathon- 1:17:15 (2006 Lincoln)
Suzanne was also selected to the 2004 Beijing International Ekiden while competing for Team Nebraska based on her 11th place finish at the Freihofer’s Run For Women 5K ( that year’s USA Women’s National Championships for that distance). She and husband Kregg are expecting their 2nd child later this spring.
Kelly Crawford will be taking splits for several of the mates at the indoor track at UNL tonight. Pop in to catch David A., Matt P., Andrew J. and Megan Z. flying around the oval if you get the chance.
Our first Team Nebraska Road Race Management Committee meeting of the year will be held tonight at the Upstream Brewery. A lot of exciting work to be done this year!
Very Productive day so far. 9:00 am meeting with a major sponsor, 19 X 1/4 with :45 recovery out at the dojo then another meeting at 11:30 (El Galo, the new Brazilian restaurant in Legacy, a meat fest!), cranking this column out and then off for a short nap. Waiting for those random thoughts…..
