Always good advice. If you are running someone else’s you’ve already lost the race. Chart your own course. Set your own pace. Believe in yourself. Incorporate flexibility. Have short term and long term goals. Good things will come.
After dad passed our race brought us to Oklahoma. The course laid requiring a major leap of faith and effort. The challenges of bringing our brand of energy and effort, circumscribed by gardening and athletics, a natural fit.
In six months we have gutted and started renovation on the old side of the house. Planted a substantial garden that has been feeding us and the locals. Ten fruit trees, grapes, blackberries, strawberries. Ten shade trees, three lilacs, numerous native grasses, wildflowers.
We’ve founded Team Oklahoma. Put on the inaugural “We Are Indiahoma 5K, 1 Mile, and Stroll.” Become involved with USATF Oklahoma LDR.
We sit in on the monthly Indiahoma Town Board meetings. Working together to usher in a new age for our community. I’ve established an Economic Development Committee, our people the greatest resource. And set up a Town Ordinance Manual review committee to bring us into the 21st century.
Running our own race. No ways tired.
