Took advantage of much cooler temps and some hospitality from the Weeks Compound to crank out a Very Hilly 9.5 miles. A straight shot on Co. Rd 5, out and back, with some hills that will put hair on your chest, especially coming back up from the river basin. At the top of that hill is a 360 degree scenic view that I immediately put up in the top 2 in this part of Nebraska, Soaring Wings Winery being the only thing close. 1680 miles for the year thus far.
Congratulations to Cory Logsdon on his marathon effort at Sun River this past weekend. 2:40:40. Very nice and now that he knows the nature of the beast look for more good stuff later on from Cory.
Tom Nichols was 3rd overall at the Grand Island Half Marathon turning in 1:12:40. Eric Rasmussen was 4th in 1:15:26 after encountering hamstring problems. Kyle Smith was 5th in 1:16:01. Brian Bergt was 17th overall and 1st 50-54 in 1:27:30. Dylan Wilson continued his come back in 1:31:14. On the women’s side Bridget Easley was 2nd overall female in 1:24:46, Stacy Shaw was 3rd overall and first master in 1:27:45, and Lauren Klima came across 5th in 1:33:09.
Bridget will be running the California International Marathon in early December. Stacy will return to the Omaha Marathon in just a few weeks, she is going to be tough on the open as well as masters fields.
Speaking of masters we’ve got a doozy of a team taking shape for USA Club Cross Country National Championships at the Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle on Dec. 10. Stacy Shaw, Linda Barnhart, Natalie Jetensky, and Carole Swanson are all going to be taking on the very best masters from around the U.S. I ran this race in Spokane a few years ago and can tell you it is one of the top racing experiences anywhere, especially for masters. These cats know how to kick it and kick back.
Lots of great performances at the Hy-Vee Triathlon, we are proud of all of you! I’ve never done a triathlon so you people truly are inspirations to me!
