A big Team Nebraska welcome to a couple of our newest mates:
Alex Cassar has been training with our women’s team and has accepted an invitation to formally join us:
In high school her focus was on shorter distances. She was named to the All-American team in 2002. High School PRs were 60.2 in the 400m and 2:19.2 in the 800m. She also ran cross to condition for track.
Moved to Omaha in January of 2011 from Michigan. In 2011, ran her fastest half and full marathon with times of 1:30:59 and 3:34:55 respectively.
Prior to relocating in Omaha competed for a mid-Michigan racing team that focused primarily on 5ks.
She ran briefly at Michigan State University, however after numerous injuries decided to end her college career. She continued running only for conditioning and didn’t begin to race again until 2009.
Alysha Davis has run with us only once but her talent and determination made her an easy selection:
Hometown is Cambridge City, IN. She went to college at University of Wyoming, Fall 2007 – Spring 2011. Works for Peter Kiewit & Sons Corporation as an accountant.
College: 1500 – 4:37 – Boulder, CO. Outdoor 3000 – 10:02 – Lincoln, NE. Indoor 5,000 – 17:00 – Eugene, OR. Outdoor 10,000 – 36:30 – Fort Worth, TX. Outdoor Cross Country 6k – 21:17 – Fort Colins, CO
Post Collegiate performances: Deadwood Half Marathon June 2011, Deadwood, SD: 1:24:08. Fire Fighter 5K, September 8th, 2012, Cambridge City, IN: 18:33. Omaha Corporate Cup 10K, September 16th, 2012, Omaha: 38:50. Omaha Half Marathon, September 23rd, 2012, Omaha: 1:25:47
Excited to get to the Red Dirt Running Co. this afternoon, there will be a Newton representative there from 2-6 to discuss the science behind this amazing shoe. RDRC is the only store in Omaha to carry Newtons. The rep will let you take a pair out for a spin around Lake Zorinsky to see if you like them or not, what a great service and its free!
D.A.R.T. This is my favorite team entry thus far into the Market to Market Relay. I’m a little biased because most of the runners are from our Wednesday night group, but what an imaginative team name and logo!
