No I’m not talking about Mssrs. Wintheiser, Joerger, and Welp.
My first complete physical since the late 70s and the US Navy. Head to toe. Ship Shape at 58 1/2! Things have changed in medicine to be sure. More like a Star Trek examination than what passed for medicine 40 years ago. The Good Doc called me in for a review of the findings, his pleasantries unable to mask a puzzle. Asked me about my daily life and was especially interested in my running. Pushed a button and a screen dropped down out of nowhere. He talked about the views of my knee, confirming no debilitations to the naked and x-ray eyes. The next slide popped up right alongside his eyebrows and pitch in voice. A Eureka! moment?
The Doc pulled out his pointer to show my lungs to be 100%. Plus. And the questions turned back to my running again. Apparently I was blessed with a third lung. He’d never seen such a thing and in a moment a dozen and more white coats poking and prodding and asking and just plain perplexed.
I want to wish everyone representing the Good Life good luck, great racing, and Giddyup at the Shamrock Shuffle. I’ll be keeping a different score card, looking at the top 3 finishers for each club instead of top 4. Our losing Cameron Cummings will keep us from officially scoring as a club but you can be sure of a full dissection of performances come Monday.
10th Annual Ni-Bthaska-Ke tomorrow. Just under 200 entrants. They know what they’re in for, most love the challenge and bragging rights that go with it. Some for the natural beauty of the park. Some to support the oldest consecutively run Trail Race in Nebraska. Whatever your reason for taking up the challenge we congratulate you!
