Living History Farms, we knew ye well! Competition and Crockery!
LHF, three little letters that have had a huge impact on Running and Racing in the midwest. Especially here in Nebraska.
Team Nebraska used LHF as a proving ground. Competing with the rest of the best we built a reputation as the team to beat. Matt Pohren Nebraska’s only back to back winner, setting the 12K course record 38:09 in 2012.
Nebraska Run Guru Elite’s Grant Wintheiser finished 2nd overall (29:04) to Mason Frank (28:57) in 2015 over 5.25 miles of snow pack, one of the fiercest battles in race history.
In a sad day for racing LHF has announced it won’t be contested in 2021, with a foreboding. From the race’s official announcement on their facebook page:
“The world has changed. Costs continue to go up. The runners have come to expect more and more of “an Event” in the production.”
Over production to satisfy participants’ desire for an event instead of a Real Race. Its a sad day.
