Elections concluded and I’m happy as a clam on the Daytona Beach high tide.
Long time friend and mentor Bill Roe defeated that rascal Glenn Latimer for the LDR Division Chair. That makes me happy.
Kim Keenan Kirkpatrick won over incumbent Virginia Brophy Achman for the WLDR Committee Chair. Kim and I came up through the ranks back in the late 90s and if my lobbying on her behalf made any difference at all then I can smile over that too. Virginia will continue to do good things in our sport but the time is right for new leadership for our long distance ladies.
I was re-elected as the Club Council At Large Member, thanks to everyone for the vote of confidence!
Headed down to the Ponce de Leon Lighthouse this morning, a great run and a tough set of 400 meters. My fitness isn’t what I’d hope for heading into Lexington next weekend, the 10+ weeks off with plantar’s showing more now as crunch time approaches. But I have been doing the workouts and will give it my best over 10K.
Spending time with Camille Herron of Oklahoma. At the Route 66 Marathon a couple of weeks ago she set a Guiness Book of World Records mark by running the 26.2 miles in a full Spiderman Costume, her time of 2:48 bogels the mind.
Will be wrapping up meetings today and then headed back to Omaha tomorrow, I’ll miss the sun and sand and friendships new and renewed, but also looking forward to seeing my dear sweet Katie and getting things moving forward before heading out again next Friday to Kentucky.
Its a great life. And I deserve it.
