That is a question only you can ask, only you can answer. Across all aspects of your life. Since this is a running blog, let’s stick to that.
Why do you run? How much do you commit to it? What are your motivations? What are your expectations? Are you happy with your relationship with running? Is it healthy?
Not weight control, I’m already Thin to Win!
I’ve outgrown almost every major stressor in my life, so its not to control anxiety.
I can’t win anymore against most of you, so beating you isn’t it.
I don’t do it for fuzzy frizzy friendly feel goods. No hash tag happy happy joy joy.
I don’t do it for others.
I don’t do it for others approval or acceptance.
No sense of accomplishment for merely participating.
No sense of accomplishment for merely completing.
No assembling with masses before the crack of dawn.
I don’t feel sanctimonious.
I do, every single time, try and catch the cat in front of me. (Nuthin but the dog In me)
I do sleep in and prefer to run alone.
I do run for peace and communion.
I do run for the love of the sport.
I do run to measure my fellow man and woman.
I do feel enlightened, regards running.
I do freely share what I’ve learned over 40+ years in our sport.
I do model commitment to competitive excellence.
I do lead young ambitious athletes.
Elizabeth Starbuck has joined Nebraska Run Guru Elite via the Colorado School of Mines. Liz helped lead the Miners to cross country nationals twice and sports a nice 17:37 5K pr. She looks forward to continuing her competitive development and we are quite happy to have and to help!
Why Try? Because its Worth It.
