I’d take you in a minute. Hardworking, ambitious, willing to lay it on the line. Those are the traits TNB is taking to Seattle this weekend, all 16 of us are aspiring to be cross country studs! Keep working hard and let the occasional troll roll, been there, done that. We’re all finishing up our training cycle, most of us feeling a little banged up from various complaints but confident in our fitness. That confidence, as much as anything, has to do with Killer Coach guiding us, encouraging us, honing us to our finest edge. Nothing left to do but get our Giddyup on this coming Saturday morning.
From the USATF annual meetings: For 2016 there will be new USA Olympic Marathon Trials entry standards, to wit:
Women- The “B” Standard was lowered from 2:46:00 to 2:43:00, the “A” Standard lowered from 2:40:00 to 2:37:00. The Half Marathon auto qualifier was lowered from 1:15:00 to 1:14:00. The 10K auto qualifier was dropped altogether. This makes me Very Happy. When I was the Women’s Champs Chair I lobbied hard to get the standard lowered to 2:45:00.
Men- The men have reinstated the “B” qualifier, setting the mark to 2:18:00. The “A” standard was lowered to 2:14:00. Haven’t gotten the skinny on the Half auto or if they retained the 10K auto but will fill you in when I find out.
How about 55 year old Brian Pilcher? He ran a 2:36 at California International Marathon, splitting 1:14:53, 1:21:30- hampered the second half by cramps. He also cranked a 1:12:51 half marathon in November. Wow.
The Lincoln Marathon & Half Marathon registration is open. I’ve gotten great response from the mates, we are looking forward to making this the most competitive race in the last several years. Going to be a lot of debuts for the club too, youth must be served after all.
Single digits when I headed out for the easy 10K of running this morning. Treacherous footing for some of it, constant attentiveness for the entirety. Beats the heck out of the treadmill.
