Congratulations to Michael Phelps on becoming the most decorated Olympian in history. And he’s not done yet.
My heel was pretty sore after my run on the trails last night. After timing a couple of mates on their 400s this morning I headed to the pool and swam 2000 yards without stopping. Probably just a warm up for Real Swimmers, but felt good to get that far comfortably and was beat when I finished.
Back to those mates and their quarters. Carolyn Meyer was officially welcomed onto Team Nebraska this morning. She approached me after a decent run at the Lincoln Half Marathon and petitioned to join up. After demonstrating a good work ethic and understanding of the club culture she will be sporting the Red & White at her next race. Welcome Carolyn! Linda turned in a nice set too, she’ll have her wheels back in no time. Both ladies will be racing the Grand Island Half this coming September.
We’ll be hitting up Millard West tonight at 6:00 pm, heat be damned. Spoke to my dad in SW Oklahoma last night, it is getting up to 113 there today, trying to give you a silver lining. Good to hear from the old cowboy, reminding me how lucky I am to still have him around. 80 years old and he could still whip you and your two best buddies.
Tim Langdon is training up for the Market to Market 50K and he’s In It To Win It. Guy has some wheels as evidenced by his 2:45:09 marathon debut, he’s been busting his hump all summer with a single goal in mind, got to love that.
Jeff Nielsen is blossoming under Killer Coach. On Monday he cranked out 5 X 4K, Tuesday it was 20 miles with 9 fartlek style, today 30 X 1/4 with :30 recovery, averaging :87s. Nice work and keep after it Jeff!
