Recipes for success!
We are in the midst of the holiday culinary extravaganzas! I’ll assert again that Indiahoma has some of the best home cooks anywhere. We doubled our weekly mileage to fend off the Thanksgiving 5 (or more!) and are assessing our waistlines heading into Christmas.
With that in mind here are a couple of recipes guaranteed not to add an inch!
1. Rub Borax on the flesh side until the membrane comes off. Mix 1/4 pound hydrated builders lime in 2 quarts of water. (This loosens the scales). Check every 12 hours until loose. Do not leave any longer than necessary or the hide will disintegrate. When ready, scrape off the scales and rinse.
Now pickle the skin in one gallon of water and 1/4 pound alum and as much salt as will dissolve. Let set 3 days then rinse, blot dry and rub flesh side over the edge of an axe to break.
Now rub leather oil (Lexol) into the skin. Hang to dry. Then break again. Wash in detergent to remove oil. Dry and wash one more time. To glue, use Pliobond Glue.

2. Begin with one quart of peroxide. Add 1/2 cup baking soda and 2 teaspoons dish soap. Mix well and scrub vigorously onto affected surface. Leave mixture on for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse.

A good group of volunteers showed up to help Caleb and Hannabass Production decorate the park with Christmas cheer. Big tip of the sombrero to Caleb!
The Indiahoma Town Board, Comanche County Sheriff’s Dept., and District 3 County Commissioner Josh Powers joined to “Stand With Us To Stand Against” on Saturday November 18th to recognize Drug Free Indiahoma. We hope to turn this into an annual event.
