More in 24! Lifting this saying from Lawton Mayor Stan Booker. Our Lord’s year of 2024 lies before us like a blank canvas. Awaiting master strokes from each of us, our individual contributions comprising the tapestry that is Indiahoma.
Our Indiahoma Town Board continues movement on the trailer park. The land is owned by the city. Months of discussion are leading to a rewriting of the Indiahoma Town Ordinances regarding 1) Definitions, 2) Permits, 3) Fees, 4) Regulations, and 5) Penalties.
The Town Ordinance Manual is being updated for the first time in over a decade. Many of the ordinances are antiquated, irrelevant, and even unconstitutional. City ordinance manuals are required to be codified every 10 years so this is overdue. City attorney Amanda Mullins is reviewing the manual. Elgin Mayor JJ Francais has a deep interest in Public Policy. He has been a frequent attendee to our town board meetings and has provided excellent input. The Board of Trustees has agreed to hire JJ for $1.00 to review and suggest changes to our manual. JJ will consult and liaise with Mullins resulting in potential savings of thousands of dollars.

Better bubble wrap the pipes! Looks like we are in for a deep freeze. I’ll take this over Nebraska winters. Reports from family and friends remind my back how nice it is to not be shoveling the white wet stuff. Our winters now best spent investigating trail, nook, and cranny of the Wichita Mountains!
